Learn About Gaming PC Storage as Well as Options for Work, School and Personal Use (2 TB+ of Storage Space)

Technology is Becoming More Vast, But We're Here to Help You Keep Up!

There is so much to track on your computer desktops and laptops, and it makes sense to keep everything backed up.  It's hard to believe that something we live and work by just became available to the public in the 1990s, namely the internet.

I always talk about how confusing technology can be when we are deciding on which televisions to buy, whether to cut the cable cord (AD), and how to store our information.

Cloud storage is an option, however many do not trust this because someone you don't know is responsible for your precious data, books, photos, music, etc.

What Do You Need from a Standpoint of Storage Space?

The first thing is once you secure your precious files, always back them up in a couple of different places (trust me)!  You may do this on two different drives or you can choose other options.  For the purposes of this post, we'll consider external hard drives.

It all starts with a byte of space, which according to Wikipedia:

"The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. Historically, the byte was the number of bits used to encode a single character of text in a computer and for this reason it is the smallest addressable unit of memory in many computer architectures.

Storage space grows as follows:

1 byte - 8 bits
1 kilobyte (kb) - 1024 bits
1 megabyte (mb) - 1024 kb
1 gigabyte (gb) - 1024 mb
1 terabyte (tb) - 1024 gb

One terabyte can hold approximately 75 million pages!

Popular games such as Fortnite®(AD) require 8 GB for performance memory just to give you an idea about size.

Per the Playstation® website with regard to PS4® External HDD Support

"If your PS4 doesn’t have enough HDD space to install a game, you can use an Extended Storage Device to add more storage.

  1. External Hard Disk Drive*
  • USB 3.0 or later
  • 250 GB minimum, 8 TB maximum capacity"

Now that You Know More About Storage Sizes, Here's What You Can Use

You first want to determine what device are you pulling data from.  The Seagate® Portable 2 TB External Hard Drive (AD) connects to your device with a USB 3.0 and can be used with a Mac, PC, PS4 or Xbox (STGX2000400).  You can store up to two terabytes on this drive as its name suggests.

AD

The drive comes in two colors, black or silver, and more space options are available, but you have to get them while they are in stock! AD

This is plenty of space for the average computer user!

Hope this helps you in your storage purchases for personal, school and work projects!
